Vision Statement: The Premier Institution and Centre of Excellence in the promotion and facilitation of best practices in corporate governance for social transformation and economic development of Kenya in particular, and Africa, in general.
Mission Statement: Developing and promoting the adoption of sustainable best practices in Corporate Governance through training, education, research, monitoring and evaluation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CENTRE
The Centre endeavours to achieve the following fundamental objectives:Promoting the implementation of good corporate governance principles and practices in Africa.Creating public awareness and sensitising corporate leaders and policy makers on the need for good corporate governance for enhanced public and political leadership.Conducting research studies in corporate governance practices with a view to identifying and replicating good practices for enhanced corporate performance.Facilitating the development and implementation of appropriate educational, training and development programmes aimed at enhancing the performance of corporate leaders and policy makers in all sectors of the economy.Providing an institutional framework for the evaluation, monitoring and recognition of corporate governance practices in corporations and institutions.Co-operating and co-ordinating with other organizations with similar aims and objectives within and outside the continent to advance the cause of good corporate governance. |
OUR EARLY DAYS
The Centre Established by a private sector initiative for corporate governance in 1999 to foster the highest standards of corporate governance in all types of corporations.
At inception, the Centre was registered as the Private Sector Corporate Governance Trust (PSCGT), which was renamed the Centre for Corporate Governance in 2002.
The Centre’s project activities at inception were envisioned and implemented under five main components, namely: Institutional Capacity Building, Education and Training, Research and Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Advocacy and Communication.
During its early years, the Centre facilitated the establishment of the Pan African Consultative Forum on Corporate Governance (PACFCG – 2001), the Kenya Shareholder’s Association (2001) and the Institute of Directors – Kenya (IoD -2002).
